The Indianapolis Colts escaped against the Steelers with a win last week, but it came at a hefty price. Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor both suffered injuries that took them out of the game. Both starters are now in doubt to play in Jacksonville. That is the bad news. While Richardson was limited in practice and Taylor did not participate, it doesn’t mean they won’t be ready to go in week five. That is the good and potentially unexpected news coming out of the team on Thursday.

Richardson didn’t make it through the first quarter last week as he took a hard hit on a run. While he tried to give it another go, an oblique injury was too much to fight through as he didn’t feel he had the same type of explosion. Joe Flacco filled in admirably and will be ready if Richardson can’t suit up. Shane Steichen stated that Richardson didn’t have to practice to play, so we will see what happens. There is a good chance Richardson will be a game time decision.

Meanwhile, Taylor suffered a high ankle sprain. It kept him out late in the fourth, but it wasn’t thought to be devastating. Remember, this is the man who fought an ankle sprain for quite some time and required surgery. It seems like Taylor would miss this week’s game for sure, but that notion is coming into doubt.

I don’t know the severity of the sprain, but it appears that even if Jonathan Taylor can’t go this week, the injury won’t keep him out too long. For the Colts sake, they need all the help they can get on the road in Jacksonville; a place they haven’t won at in over a decade. At the same time, rushing either player back too soon could have devastating consequences. Anthony Richardson has battled his share of injuries to this point and while this one isn’t as impactful, continuing to miss game action is concerning. He’s hoping both men can play and end the dreaded losing streak against the Jaguars.
