With the Seattle Seahawks on a four-game winning streak, many individual player awards keep coming to the Pacific Northwest. Earlier in the week, Zach Charbonnet won the FedEx Ground Player of the Week for his breakout performance against the Arizona Cardinals. Now, it is rookie, Tyrice Knight’s turn to receive an award.
It was announced on Thursday that Knight has won the rookie of the week award for his stellar performance last week against the Cardinals. In that game, Knight led the Seahawks in tackles with 12, and has two passes defensed.
Knight was a fourth-round pick by the Seahawks in this past 2024 NFL Draft. Coming out of UTEP, Knight was not heralded as a top linebacker prospect, with many draft sites listing him as a late-round pick, if not undrafted. However, Mike Macdonald had an eye for the linebacker, having brought him in for a 30-visit this past spring. When Knight was eventually selected in the fourth round, many draft pundits saw this as a reach. However, it looks like the selection of Knight is another day-three gem for John Schneider.
On the season, Knight has already logged 58 tackles, one sack, one fumble recovery, and two passes defensed in only six starts. The future is very bright for this rookie linebacker.
