I just wanted to take some time to appreciate the great job that Sean Payton is doing for the Denver Broncos franchise.
We’ve seen some absolutely head-scratching decisions from the franchise in recent years:
- The Russell Wilson extension
- Drafting Paxton Lynch
- Trading for Joe Flacco
- Signing Case Keenum
- Signing Ja’Wuan James
- Failing to sign Kyle Shannahan as coach
But they nailed the hiring of Sean Payton.
He gave Russell Wilson an honest shot and it largely flopped. It forced the team to eat record-setting dead money and face the challenge of trying to field a good football team while hog-tied as far as their 2024 salary cap goes.
He’s done a tremendous job making tough choices, getting the right coaching staff in place, and getting the most out of this young and rebuilding roster.
