My pick prediction streak remains strong after getting 11 of 16 games correct for Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season.
With three weeks of strong picks, I’m at 80-43 on the season—still at 65-percent accuracy. That’s roughly 65-percent accuracy and over a 10-percent rise since Week 5. I’m trending in the right direction! This week there 15 matchups with the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers on their bye weeks.
Without further ado, here are my Week 9 predictions. Let’s see if I can keep on winning!
Thursday Night Football – Houston Texans at New York Jets
The Texans notched their sixth victory of the year last Sunday, but it came at a cost. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs was lost for the year with an ACL injury. The Jets lost their fifth in a row and their playoff hopes are dead unless an absolute miracle occurs. I don’t think that miracle starts on Thursday Night Football. I’m picking Houston.
Winner: Texans
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Dallas Cowboys at Atlanta Falcons
The only ‘D’ in Dallas is in their team’s name. That side of the ball has been M.I.A. for them all season long. If they want any shot at making the playoffs, they better learn how to play defense fast. The Falcons have a high scoring offense, and I expect them to light it up against the Cowboys. I’ll take Atlanta at home.
Winner: Falcons
Sunday Football (Early Game) – New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans
Both these teams are pretty terrible. Which one is the least terrible? My heart says the Patriots. Drake Maye should be able to outperform Will Levis in this one.
Winner: Patriots
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinatti Bengals
The Raiders notching their fifth straight loss would make me really happy. Neither of these teams play good defense, but the Bengals are much better offensively. That’s why I’m giving them the edge and picking them. Go Bengals!
Winner: Bengals
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens
The Broncos’ top-flight defense heads to Baltimore to take on Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and the Ravens’ high-flying offense. This should be a really exciting game. If the Broncos win—they’ve proven themselves as formidable playoff contenders. If they lose? They’ll have some ground to try and make up in Week 10. I’ve got my orange and blue shades on, so I’m taking Denver here.
Winner: Broncos
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns
The Chargers and Browns both won their Week 8 matchups. Jameis Winston and the Browns’ offense looked much better against the Ravens. Can they keep that trend going against the Chargers? I think so. I’m taking Cleveland here.
Winner: Browns
Sunday Football (Early Game) – New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers
After starting off 2-0, the Saints have dropped six in a row. The Panthers? They have only won a single game and are losers of five straight. I’ll take New Orleans here to keep the Panthers at the bottom of the NFC South.
Winner: Saints
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
The Bills are the class of the AFC East with six wins and are enjoying a three-game winning streak. A win against the Dolphins would almost assure them the division title barring a complete catastrophic second half of the season. Will the Dolphins finally start scoring points with Tua back in action? Not enough to win on the road. I’m taking Buffalo.
Winner: Bills
Sunday Football (Early Game) – Washington Commanders at New York Giants
The Commanders won in epic fashion last week on an improbable Hail Mary pass that was tipped and caught with no time left on the clock. I’m a big Jayden Daniels fan and think their offense gets back on track against their longtime NFC East rival.
Winner: Commanders
Sunday Football (Afternoon Game) – Jacksonville Jaguars at Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles’ offense is still a work in progress, but their strong defense has them competitive in most games. The Jaguars have been won of the worst teams of the season and I don’t expect that to change on the road. I’m taking the home team.
Winner: Eagles
Sunday Football (Afternoon Game) – Chicago Bears at Arizona Cardinals
After their heartbreaking loss to the Commanders, I expect the Bears to correct their course and take care of business on the road against the Cardinals. They can’t afford to lose another game given the competitive nature of the NFC North.
Winner: Bears
Sunday Football (Afternoon Game) – Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks
Believe it or not, the Rams could be within a game of the NFC West lead if they can earn a victory on the road in Seattle. After a slow start to the year, they are starting to find their way while the Seahawks have struggled recently. I think the Rams make it three in a row.
Winner: Rams
Sunday Football (Afternoon Game) – Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
This is my matchup of the week and a battle for NFC North supremacy. The Lions are on a dominant five game winning streak and the Packers have won four in a row. The Packers may have homefield advantage, but I think the Lions boast the better football team and win in a close game.
Winner: Lions
Sunday Night Football – Indianapolis Colts at Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings started off the season 5-0 but have dropped their last two games. The Colts are 4-4 and have benched Anthony Richardson. That means Joe Flacco gets the start. Minnesota can’t afford to lose a third straight, and I think they do enough to ensure that doesn’t happen against Indianapolis.
Winner: Vikings
Monday Night Football – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Kansas City Chiefs
I don’t see any reason to pick against the Chiefs here, but I’m starting to have some concerns about Patrick Mahomes and their offense. Nevertheless, that defense is for real, and I think they’ll keep Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers offense at bay. I’m taking Kansas City.
Winner: Chiefs
